We developed a useful excel tool that used multiple tabs to track prospects, current grant work load, future submissions for a year forward, submitted proposals, and funder communications. We also provided strategic advice on how to best develop annual projections based on leveraged forecasts.
Annually, Jono Marcus Consulting managed the solicitation, stewardship, relationships, and funding of approximately $2 million per year for Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. We coordinated timelines of more than 120 foundation, corporate, and government grant proposal and reporting deadlines per year and helped to establish new and enduring relationships with dozens of funders. We weekly held an office on site at Next Door Solutions and provided ongoing technical expertise at full-time capacity for much of the ten years.
In addition to developing process flow documents (see image on left), building agency and project budgets, we also developed presentations, such as one that sought to teach Next Door staff about the grants process at their agency so that they might engage in a culture of philanthropy that would help the agency grow.
During its tenure at Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence, Jono Marcus Consulting provided direction over a website redesign, the development of communications collateral, including annual appeals, e-newsletter, and a social media program. For several years we helped create thematically engaging copy and visuals in Next Door’s Annual Report.
Over its ten-year period, which included the 2008 recession, as resident and contracted development consultant, Jono Marcus Consulting raised over $16 million for Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence, leaving the agency in a position to maintain its current funding streams and leverage institutionalized grant and communication systems to develop and raise additional funding streams from new funders.
